Southern Peninsula Community Support

Southern Peninsula Community Support (SPCS) based in Rosebud is a not-for-profit providing support to the homeless and disadvantaged on the Southern Peninsula. One of our Repower core team members is on the SPCS Board of Management.

The Centre has been operating out of a Shire owned building for many years. A previous solar panel installation was not covering the existing power costs and that was inefficient and lacking consistency in supply.

Additionally, the recent installation of a cool room, to handle the storage of fresh food, which is given out to the community, had increased usage by approximately $2K per year.

SPCS applied and received a $10K grant through the Federal Government’s Powering Communities Program, which enabled an upgrade installation of 20 x 330W solar panels by a local supplier.

The savings made on utility costs will be used to fund other critical resources for those needing help in the local community.
